I’ve not developed an app before. I’m not exactly well versed in code. But, I did want to make sure that the app was available to multiple platforms. Obviously phones run on different software, but a large part of my experience in software has come from working as a cross-platform analyst for over ten years in and around London.
When I first started working with Apple products, I loved how clean the OS was and the simplicity and ruggedness of the software was. It still is of course and I picked up a new Macbook Pro only recently. It was a mixed feeling. Pro: I was getting a new Macbook. Con: it was costing me £1700 to do so.
I’m not a fan boy. I just love different operating systems and hardware and all the things that come with it. I recently installed Windows 11 on my Steam Deck and that came in handy when I went for an operation and forgot my phone. I asked my wife to pick me up by booting the Steam Deck and navigating a messaging app with the touchscreen from a hospital bed.
Anyway, the goal is to get a really good experience across any device. I want it to look, feel, appear uniform. That seems to be something that appears important in my mind, that design should be simple, effective and robust, so those are my strengthening goals for the software over the next few months.
