What does the app do?
There are 38 core questions to answer surrounding SOX compliancy to answer, each one, covering core areas of the act. The app tracks your readiness before audit and outlines key areas where you are not prepared, for you to focus on.
Each question details the references within the act and explains it in plain English, what this means for your business and next steps if you can not answer positively to this question. It allows you to view the act with the important distilled information at the forefront and outline your obligations.
The questions are rated by priority, declare the SEC references and are ordered by topics such as Governance & Ownership, Risk & Fraud Awareness and Control Activities.
There are references to material that outlines examples of next steps and subjective opinions, allowing you to see peer-created content.
By answering questions, you can scope your readiness, learn as you go and create an action plan within the app.

At Pewter UK Apps Ltd, we use AI to build things quickly, not replace the heart, individualism and subjectivity humans possess. It’s this human heart that is at the core of the application design. In fact, we write the guidance text ourselves because the apps job is to deliver common language for legal documentation, so there’s a little bit of colloquial British English in there.
Here’s how we built accedr:
AI
- The code base is Flutter generated using Claude Code
- The legislation was inspected using an LLM tool, to sort and organise
- The app was spellchecked
- AI peer review on results tasked with independent references online
Human
- Each part of the legislation was read individually, inspected for interpretation and researched. The guidance was resourced, reviewed and referenced from multiple quality resources that are included
- The content has been sanity-checked for hallucinations and the language has been reviewed to make sure it is understood in a globalised English
- The workflow was designed and tested by humans
- It was designed in mind of real-life experience of how people communicate their auditing requests and is intended as a way of converting legal jargon into understandable and digestible information written in plain English
- Testing was performed by humans for user experience
- The questions and ordering by category were sorted by humans to understand if they explained properly to non legal readers
- Documentation was sourced from official sources from the US government
- Questions were inter-woven to each other where necessary to help connect the legislation and actions required.
